From San Vigilio, the nearest rifugio is Pederü. You can drive up there, but as we had no idea about road conditions, we decided to walk. As the way is marked and it’s also possible to follow the car road, it’s impossible to get lost. It’s a very gentle climb, we climbed 364 metres over a distance of 13 kilometres (one way).
Pederü has a big terrace and a good menu. There’s also a gigantic parking lot and the road leading up there turned out to be just fine. So we discovered that for our next hikes we could drive up to Pederü and hike from there.
