May 12: Tyndrum to Kingshouse

On this first day we had lovely weather. The first ten kilometres were easy terrain, nice for a warm up. Then we crossed Bridge of Orchy:

West Highland Way: Bridge of Orchy river

We had a snack at the picnic table in the above picture. Two years ago, I camped here. Nostalgia! Then we crossed the hill to Inveroran, where we had a great lunch. At that point, we were only halfway.

And then we set off for Rannoch Moor. In 2015, it had blown me away. This time it was less magical. Still vast, still quiet, but there were no snowy hilltops (the temperature was 10 degrees Celsius higher). Of course, it was interesting to see the same landscape in different weather conditions. And of course, I still loved it.

We arrived at Glencoe Mountain Resort pretty tired. We stayed in a hobbit house:  Hobbit house at Glencoe Mountain Resort
Two years ago, I hadn’t really liked the Glencoe Mountain Resort. This time, we had a different experience. We thought it was a nice place to hang around, good atmosphere.
