Another beautiful day, and another long day. The first part was to Rowardennan, nice and easy, along the lake.
Unfortunately the Rowardennan Hotel, where I had hoped to find breakfast, wasn’t open yet. So on I went towards Inversnaid. Along the way I met quite a few fellow walkers, all of whom ended up in the first hotel we saw upon entering Inversnaid. I was starving and very happy to find that they served burgers.
From Milarrochy Bay to Inversnaid had been about 20 km, and to reach Inverarnan would be another 11. For me, it was necessary to continue if I wanted to make the WHW in 6 days. Two German girls I had met, who were also carrying heavy packs, decided to go for it as well, because “today we have the sun”. That was indeed an important factor, as the part from Inversnaid to Inverarnan is one where there is not always a normal path, some of it is a rocky area where you need to use your hands sometimes.
Walking along the loch was still beautiful, but I found this last part very very difficult. I got some blisters, and during the last kilometres I told myself that the next day would be my last day. I would do a short stage from Inverarnan to Tyndrum and then quit, relax in Edinburgh and come back some other time to do the rest of the way.
When I finally reached Beinglas Campsite it was like an oasis again. A nice bar, many walkers, hot showers, a shop. Loved the place.
