Scotland 2017

West Highland Way – the sequel.

After abandoning the WHW in 2015, of course there had to be a revenge. This time, a friend came along, and as we chose to hike shorter stages, and to leave our tents at home, things were much more doable. And the landscapes were just as stunning.

In 2015 I had walked the WHW until Kingshouse and had particularly loved the stage through Rannoch Moor. So this time, we decided to start at Tyndrum in order to hike this part one more time.

West Highland Way: the lone tree at Rannoch Moor

As we didn’t carry a tent, and were hiking in a busy period, we had booked accommodation ahead. For this reason, it was not necessary to bring a guidebook: the West Highland Way is well marked, and there are many others hiking it. Of course it can still be useful to bring one, for background information as well as practical info about accommodation, shops and transport.
