Samlen

After yesterday’s long, flat walk, today we did a short and steep climb to Samlen. We had deliberately chosen this order, because yesterday was wet and today a beautiful, dry, sunny day. The route is marked with red T’s and the first part is pretty difficult, you’re crossing piles of unstable rocks. But this is only a short section.

Then when you’re out of the woods, you have great views:

And at the top you’re in heaven. So quiet (for a short moment there were two other hikers there, but they had arrived long before us and were going down again) and so beautiful.

At the top of course there’s a cairn, as always, but here there was also some instrument (or piece of art?).

This was a spectacular hike, highly recommended! On the internet there are warnings about this hike, I can imagine it’s not advisable to do this one in wet weather. But on a sunny day like we had, it was great.

As we had also absolutely loved yesterday’s walk to Tostöl, and stayed in a fantastic, modern cabin owned by a very nice family, the area of Utne was our favourite place of this holiday and if we return to Norway, we’ll certainly visit this region again.
